The Uplifting Bell Ends announce new album, 'Super Giant IV'

5 August 2022

Our beloved folk rockers and DIY enthusiasts, The Uplifting Bell Ends have dropped their second single ‘I’ll See You Again’ and we are very pleased to announce their forthcoming 5th album, ‘Super Giant IV’ (out September 30th), which the band is calling "the finale of the Super Giant saga."  STREAM / BUY: I'll See You Again

'I’ll See You Again’ comes with all the vintage swagger you could wish for from the Bell Ends, with heavy nods to early 70s country rock such as The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Grateful Dead, among others. The track is driven by an uptempo drum beat and bass groove, surrounded by rhythmic guitar strumming and soft keys, with James French’s charismatic vocals keeping us hooked. After each verse we are hit with drum fills, fuzzy guitar riffs, bongos and even spacey synthesisers. The single shows more of the Bell Ends' eclectic songwriting and originality that sets them apart from other psych and garage rock bands of today.

In the spirit of never taking themselves too seriously, The Uplifting Bell Ends shot the music video for ‘I’ll See You Again’ on their favourite local golf course in their hometown of Kareela, south Sydney. The candid Happy Gilmore-esque clip follows the Bell Ends for a casual game in the afternoon sun, decked out in polo shirts and taking their best shot at a hole-in-one.

“I wanted to get a better understanding of my swing and see where I need to improve, haha", says James French. “Kareela golf course has a special place in the hearts of the Bell Ends.”

During the pandemic in 2020/21, Bell Ends visionary and vocalist James French and multi-instrumentalist Chet Tucker found themselves living in a remote community in the Northern Territory, Australia. It was during their time living in the desert that the two friends wrote the new album together. It’s clear that their experiences and distance from home made an impact as the new album tells stories of travel, nature, isolation, love and longing for connection.

The Uplifting Bell Ends’ forthcoming album ‘Super Giant IV’ (out September 30th) shows yet another colour in the band’s eclectic palette, tied together by their conceptual brilliance, underrated musicianship and French’s knack for writing some of the most unforgettable rock n roll lyrics you’ll hear today. Departing from their usual psychedelic and garage rock songs, the album explores influences from American rock of the late 60s and early 70s, as the band draws from country rock, folk, blues and outsider music.

To celebrate the release of Super Giant IV, The Uplifting Bell Ends will be hitting the road for an interstate tour, performing the new record and some of their biggest hits across their four Super Giant albums! Tickets are on sale now, grab yours below.
